[ Prelims 02 Overview~ ]

The second preliminary round was held last night, starts at 8.30pm. The MCs for the night were Hafiz and Taufik. There were another 14 bands that will be going to compete each other tonight. The bands lists are as follows:

The jury also give some comments on how the band can improve their performance. Firstly, given by Mr. Bob. What he says is:
• Most of the band in this year event is good
• The band also must have good sound balancing
• All the combination between the band members must be OK so that it can be combined to come up with a good band

While, our second judge, Miss Nana give some comments on:
• The bands can performs a good band
• Mostly can play the instruments well
• Some having the non – balancing music so need to improve on that

While our last judge, Haji Tahar says:
• Bout the band quality
• Need a high confidence in order to lead the band
• Some having the not so good in balancing, so need to improve on that

The crowds for the night are more happening compare to the 1st night. All are enjoy with the band performance. Lastly, the program ends by announcing the bands that can make to the Top 11. There are some changes in the number of the bands that can make to the finals because of the marking scheme. Mostly got the same marks, so our Program Director doesn’t want to choose any of it so he took all of them. The finalists are:

[ Prelims overview~ ]

The Jammfest 2008 is an event organized by ASTENA UNITEN. This year is the 3rd year this event being conducted. For this 2008 event, there are three sessions which is two sessions for preliminary and 1 session for grand finals. The prelim sessions are on 10 & 11 March while grand finals will be on the 16th March. Total bands that will be going to compete in this year event is 28 bands, which then will be separated to two, 14 bands will be performs on 10th March while other 14 on 11th March.

The prelim sessions begins at 8pm, handle by Yusmir and Helida Akashah as our MC for the night. Overall, they did a very good job while handling the event, examples like having some jokes with the crowds; ask some questions with the bands and also with the crowds. The first 14 bands that perform for the night are:

10) High Council – You’ll be Safe Here by River Maya
11) Major Minor – Memburu Impian by Kristal

The event atmosphere at that night was so out of expectation because we can see the crowd that comes to the MPH UNITEN is about 600++. That is the highest number of crowds so far for the event like this. For the bands, their performance was so full of energy; as being said they want to get to the Top 10 in the final day. Even though there are some technical problems here and there but we, the crew have manage the problems by not dragging the lagging time too long. Overall, the event on the first night of prelim sessions is success with some small technical problems and the band also was so happy and enjoy while the crowds enjoy the performance comfortably.

My personal comment as one of the committee member for this year event are; the event was well organized, all the committee and the crew already did their work successfully and everybody that comes to the MPH was enjoy with the performance.
